For a segment of my research I decided to delve into some Swiss legends, for example the story of folk hero William Tell, the man who shot and split an apple perched on his son's head with a crossbow. This was an act of defiance against a local dignitary, rather than bowing down and taking his orders. This became a symbol and story of Swiss independence.

There were also a few others on the list for example, Heidi, and also the giants of the Matterhorn.
